The print on this lovely cotton caftan gown was inspired by Zandra's 1971 trip to Australia. In the book "The Art of Zandra Rhodes:" she says of this design: ... (it is ) a simplification of the original pin-cushion shapes of the tufts of desert grass translated into a very tight geometric manner.... I created a sort of landscape out of the tufts then added sky and border lines from similar wiggle lines inherited from "Wiggle and Check"."
Most of this collection was done on silks but this caftan is on a light lavender cotton with the design painted onto the fabric in a pretty shade of pink. Very easy to wear as it just slips on and you can adjust the tie at the waist. Sexy plunge front and wide kimono-esque sleeves. Love how a subtle ruffled edge runs down the skirt and around above the hem for a little extra detail. Cut fairly slim through the skirt bit that ruffle hides a slit so its comfortable to walk in. Once on is like wearing nothing once on and is very light and feels fabulous! Excellent condition.
Unlined and slip on to wear with a tie through the waist. There is slight fading to to one shoulder. This would not photo and does not detract when on but you can see it when lying flat and in strong light. It is priced accordingly.
Sleeves & shoulders: 42 all the way from one sleeve edge tot he other when lying flat. No true shoulder definition as it is cut like a kimono"
